The Kingdom of Thailand lies in Southeast Asia, with Laos and Cambodia to its east, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia to its south, and the Andaman Sea and Myanmar to its west.  It was known as Siam until the 1940's.  It is a lush tropical country rich in resources.

Known worldwide as the 'Land of Smiles' the Thai people are fun-loving, happy and proud.  The Kingdom has never been colonized, adding to the already individualistic spirit of the Thais.

Thai cuisine is known for its fresh ingredients, variety of flavors and healthy qualities.

About 95% of Thai people are Buddhists.

Thai culture is rich in mythology and ritual.

During Loi Krathong Festival small lotus shaped baskets or banana leaves containing candles and incense are floated in Thai rivers and lakes.

Thai artisans create many fine crafts from depicting their cultural heritage.
